HOLLIDAYSBURG — A former Duncansville resident and his family, who now live in Florida, returned to the Blair County Circuit Courthouse Tuesday with a pizza lunch for sheriff’s office staff.

Zander Noal, 7, created Z’s Hearts for Heroes to show appreciation for first responders and others. He will be among the attendees at the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association conference, which runs through Saturday in York.

A year ago, the Noal family attended the association’s conference at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center.

Chris Noal, Zander’s father, said Tuesday that at this year’s conference they will share information about Z’s Hearts for Heroes and how the Florida-based nonprofit foundation is gaining more recognition.

In April 2023, Blair County Sheriff Jim Ott recognized Zander’s commitment to recognizing first responders. At the time, the 5-year-old made plastic hearts with his grandmother and gave them to first responders. The donations were used for gift cards and purchases for additional first responders.

On Tuesday, Ott welcomed the Zander family, who brought a pizza lunch, and also arranged a tour of the courthouse, during which Zander had the opportunity to sit in Judge Jackie Bernard’s chair.
