Celebrate summer with art fairs and free festivals

Celebrate the creative folks of Central Massachusetts by attending a free festival in the area this July. All of the events listed feature live music, food, drinks, and talented local vendors. I’d love to hear about all of your unique finds—let me know on Instagram @sarah_connell.

I GO OUT FOR DINNERWhen: 11:00-14:00 July 18 and 25Where:Worcester Common Oval, 455 Main St., Worcester

Tap your toe to Sunta Jones as you browse the Out to Lunch Festival & Farmers Market this summer on July 18. Meet local artists, craftsmen, community and nonprofit organizations, or join in a community drum circle with The Village. And of course, a fleet of food trucks promise to provide plenty of delicious lunch options. The Out to Lunch Festival & Farmers Market takes place every Thursday through August 15.

SUMMER CRAFTS FESTIVALWhen: 11:00-17:00, July 13Where:Lilac Hedge Farm, 216 Wachusett St., Rutland

For the third year in a row, Lilac Hedge Farm invites local artisanshttps://wildwoodfarmllc.com/s to sell their wares on July 13. Spend the day exploring the “yard” where you’ll find donkeys, yaks, ostriches, emus, ducks, peacocks and more. Joining the Lilac Hedge bar, kitchen and dairy are three food trucks: Flippin’ the Bird, Say Cheese and Baked All Day.

Greater Good Imperial Brewing Co. is hosting its first Moose Market on July 14. The market will take place rain or shine, with live music, food specials and nearly 20 local vendors. Wachumakin’s DIY hat bar lets you customize your hat of choice with patches, chains, pins and more. Carr’s Creations will also be on hand with handmade charcuterie boards, coasters, Susans, wine and boxes. Want to commemorate a special occasion or just make your accessories a little less fancy? There You Glo is ready to customize your permanent jewelry.

SUMMER FUNWhen: July 27 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.Where:Wild Wood Farm, 50 Woods Road, Westminster

Mark your calendar for Wildwood Farm’s nighttime festival with sunset views over Wachusett Mountain. Over 60 makers, artists, crafters, and food trucks will be open. Order a frozen drink from the outdoor bar and listen to live music as the sun goes down.

PUNK ROCK FLEA MARKETWhen: July 27 and 28 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Where: The Hotel Vernon, 16 Kelley Square Worcester

Punk Rock Flea Market at Hotel Vernon is the only 21+ event on this list, but with $2 beers, I promise you’ll have plenty of cash left over for a babysitter. I’m intrigued by the list of vendors, which includes The Creepy Doll Lady, Zen Zombie Craftworks, Ratlord, and Impish Makings, among many others. Live music starts at 4:00 PM both days.
