Google Cloud powers diverse digital initiatives across Asia Pacific

Ecosystem partners integrate Google’s AI expertise into hybrid multi-cloud systems in emerging and mature markets, according to the ISG Provider Lens™ report

SYDNEY, 11 July 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Enterprises across Asia Pacific are turning to Google Cloud services and its partner ecosystem to support a growing number of digital transformation initiatives, according to a new research report released today by Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a leading global technology research and consulting firm.

The ISG Provider Lens™ 2024 Google Cloud Partner Ecosystem Report for Asia Pacific shows that businesses in the region (which in this report includes Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and India) are rapidly embracing digitalization through cloud adoption and data modernization. Google Cloud has become a leading force in these trends, particularly in retail, finance, and healthcare, often due to its strong partner ecosystem and advanced AI tools.

“As businesses across Asia Pacific become more competitive and resilient, they are migrating applications and data to the cloud,” said Michael Gale, partner and regional leader of ISG Asia Pacific. “Google Cloud Services has significantly improved cloud data management for these businesses.”

Cloud adoption is at different stages in this diverse region, with mature markets such as Australia, Singapore and Japan embracing artificial intelligence and advanced analytics, while companies in emerging markets are embarking on digital transformations and seeking scalable IT solutions, the report said. However, hybrid and multi-cloud strategies and edge computing are gaining traction as broad trends. Google is meeting these demands with a multi-pronged approach and plans to establish new cloud regions in New Zealand, Malaysia and Thailand.

As governments in Asia Pacific tighten data sovereignty and compliance rules, enterprises are looking for cloud services specific to the region, the report said. Vendors are meeting their needs with security architectures, encryption standards and compliance frameworks aligned with local standards, relying on Google Cloud’s regional data centers.

Generative AI (GenAI) is moving from theory to reality in Asia Pacific, changing the way some industries operate, ISG says. Companies are exploring applications in content creation, design automation and personalized customer experiences. The democratization of AI development, enabled in part by Google Cloud tools like GenAI Studio, is allowing companies to use AI even if they have limited experience. Applications include better fraud detection for financial institutions, more efficient networks for telecommunications and inventory and pricing optimization for retail.

The report says that the high concentration of AI and machine learning startups in the region, especially in India, benefits businesses that need to modernize the way they manage data.

“Startups are working closely with Google Cloud and enterprise customers to solve data challenges,” said Jan Erik Aase, partner and global leader of ISG Provider Lens Research. “Asia Pacific is a great place for AI and ML innovation.”

The report also examines other Google Cloud trends in Asia Pacific, including the growing adoption of Google Cloud tools to easily generate multi-cloud insights and the impact of Google’s unique approach to gaining control over AI-generated content.
