Lincoln Parish Schools to Offer Free Breakfast, Lunch in 2024-2025 School Year

RUSTON, La. (KNOE) – Lincoln Parish parents don’t have to worry about packing lunch boxes for their children just yet.

On July 10, the Lincoln Parish School Board (LPSB) announced that students will receive free school breakfasts and lunches during the 2024–2025 school year.

In a social media post, LPSB said the free meal plan was made available through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). CEP was created to provide students with access to nutritious meals without having to meet income eligibility requirements.

In a statement, LPSB Child Nutrition Program Manager Cody Carrico assured parents that students will receive high-quality meals.

“Our meals are nutritious, meet USDA guidelines, and we encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity,” Carrico said. “Whether it’s breakfast or lunch, we want students to enjoy the meals available and have the freedom to choose what they prefer to eat.”

LPSB assures us that it is committed to providing care to its students.

“This initiative reflects the Lincoln Parish School Board’s commitment to promoting student health and wellness through access to nutritious meals,” the LPSB said in a social media post. “By removing financial barriers, the district aims to increase student participation in school meals.”
