Suspicious fire in Featherbrook | Wyndham

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a school in Point Cook.

Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at Featherbrook P-9 College on Boardwalk Boulevard at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10.

Fire Rescue Victoria and CFA attended the scene to find flames and smoke coming from several buildings on the school grounds. Breathing apparatus were required to extinguish and contain the fire.

No one was injured, but a number of portable classrooms were damaged and a smoke warning was issued to residents in the area.

Police deemed the fire suspicious and secured the crime scene.

An arson chemist is expected to be at the scene today.

Featherbrook P-9 College is currently closed for school holidays, but students will return to school for the start of term three on Monday 15 July.

It is unclear whether the fire will affect the return of students next week. The Department of Education has been contacted for comment.
